Learn Yiddish

Linguata Yiddish is a software program designed for anyone who is learning or wants to learn some Yiddish.

As with our other languages, Linguata Yiddish will teach you Yiddish phrases fast and effectively. The content has however been changed.

Our language software is designed to teach you the words and phrases you need to communicate or 'get by' in different situations, when visiting other non-english speaking countries.

Linguata Yiddish is likely to be used in a different sense and the content reflects this. So not only have we included Yiddish numbers, days and dates but also a wide range of Yiddish proverbs and sayings.

Yiddish is an expressive language, filled with maxims and humour, and many Yiddish words have now been absorbed or commonly used in English. Some of these commonly (and less commonly) used Yiddish words are also included.

Linguata Yiddish is not a grammar course, but some basic Yiddish verbs are also included, as well as some phrases which can be used to illustrate some basic grammatical concepts.

You can download a free trial download for Windows or for the Mac. and begin immediately.

Our Yiddish language software is divided into topics each of which included vocabulary that is relevant to a specific circumstance or situation.

So, if you want to increase your vocabulary, learn using the topic 'Common Nouns', or if you want to learn some additional Yiddish words to throw into the conversation pick from 'Common Yiddish Words'.

Yiddish is written using a modified version of the Hebrew alphabet. Our Yiddish program uses both the Hebrew alphabet and a version transliterated into the roman alphabet, so there is no need to learn to read the Hebrew script to begin learning Yiddish.
